Job Summary: Transports residents to activities and services within the facility. Assists with organized activities. Operates multi-passenger specialized vehicle to transport residents to services within community.
Responsibilities:Essential Duties:
1. Transport residents to treatment area, dining, or other areas using wheelchairs.
2. Lift or assist others to lift residents to move them to and from wheelchair.
3. Lead recreational activities such as arts, crafts, and games as needed.
4. Accompany residents to Village sponsored activities and assist with participation and ensure safety of resident.
5. Operate vehicles with specialized equipment, such as wheelchair lifts to transport and secure passengers with special needs
.
6. Drive multi-passenger vehicles to transport residents between Village and destination such as appointments, shopping areas, Village sponsored activities.
7. Communicate with Village by radio, telephone, or computer to exchange information and receive requests for passenger service.
8. Pick up or meet residents according to requests, appointments, or schedules.
9. Assist residents on and off bus, ensure they are seated properly, and help carry baggage.
10. Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
11. Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
12. Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.Vacuum and clean interiors, and wash and polish exteriors of vehicles. Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.
13. Record information on trip sheets, along with trip information such as time and place of pickup and drop-off. Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of passengers or trips, hours worked, mileage, and fuel consumption.
14. Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skill development.
15. Follow established policies and procedures including but not limited to:
Presbyterian Villages policies and procedures.
Safety policies and procedures.
Federal, state and local regulations.
16. All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience: No prior experience necessary. Experience working with senior population and or persons with walkers/wheelchairs preferred.
Computer Skills: Must able to work a computer
Certificates & Licenses: Must have a current Michigan Chauffeurs License/CDL
Other Requirements: Must be insurable by Villages insurance carrier.
